A university that can be proud of its history, world rankings and faculty. Studying there is a dream, right? By the way, quite feasible. We have collected all the most important things about entering and studying at the Free University of Berlin.

The benefits of studying in Germany
Training is inexpensive.
Students pay only a semester fee, which in different universities ranges from 100 to 400 euros. At the Free University of Berlin, this fee is 314 euros.
To act is quite real.
German universities are open to international students. If you prepare the documents correctly and learn the language, there will be no problems.
Do not be afraid of the German language.
Yes, this is the biggest obstacle to entering German universities, but do not exaggerate its difficulty. To enter preparatory courses, it is enough to know the language at B2 level (and for admission to the university itself – at C1 level, more on this below). Start learning the language and you will succeed.
There are no entrance exams.
The only thing you need is to pass a language proficiency test and receive a language certificate.
Studying and living in another country is a huge experience.
You will get a good start to your professional career, communication skills (including in foreign languages), new acquaintances … The list goes on and on.
You can work while studying.
Officially, which is important. Students can work 20 hours a week. The average wage is from 7 euros per hour. In senior courses, you can work in the specialty.

Why is university status and annual high ratings important? Such widespread acceptance testifies to two things:

The university is largely funded by external organizations.
In addition, the Free University of Berlin prepares good specialists, and this is evidenced by its world rankings. This is a great start to your professional career.

History of the Free University of Berlin
The university has an interesting history, and it’s “free” for a reason. This name appeared after the Second World War in West Berlin, which was considered a free world, unlike the East.

The university was founded by a group of German students on December 4, 1948. This was a response to the persecution of students at the University of Unter den Linden in the Soviet sector of bisected Berlin.

These students and scientists wanted to conduct research without restrictions and influence from the state. Hence the name of the Free University of Berlin.

The university was created with the help of the United States of America, which supported the initiative of students. In particular, they provided financial assistance: the clinical complex was built thanks to the financing of Benjamin Franklin, and Henry Ford helped create the central lecture building.
