The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Hong Kong University of Science and Technology or HKUST) was founded in 1991. This is a research university, ranking 1st among the best young universities in the world. With international perspectives and a global reputation, HKUST strives to be a leading university. The university offers a wide selection of programs in various fields and seeks to develop knowledge through study and research, primarily at the master’s level. HKUST offers both academic and research graduate programs.University students can receive diplomas, master’s and doctorate degrees in business, management, engineering, humanities and social sciences, natural sciences and interdisciplinary fields.
HKUST offers 2 types of research degrees (RPg): Master of Philosophy (MPhil) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). Both programs involve coursework and independent research. The established training period is 2 years for full-time MPhil programs and 3 years for full-time PhD programs, depending on the initial qualification.
Students of academic master’s programs (TPg) perform coursework. TPg programs lead to degrees such as Master of Arts (MA), Master of Science (MSc), Master of Public Policy (MPP), Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA).
